We knew the tour would be fascinating but did not expect it to be even more so because of such a great tour guide. Pen is great. She presents the topic really well. She is enthusiastic and looks after the tour group. The 4 hours plus just flies. We recommend the tour and Pen.

best part of our weekend in Berlin--only wish we had taken the tour on our first day there. Jamie was an excellent guide-- twas as if a very knowledgeable friend was showing us the town. Whatever you are paying him, it isn't enough. Will recommend your tours to any friends heading to B. Alf Shukhur and Well Done.

We were blown away by the volume of information Michael provided us with as well as the number of landmarks we got to see and how much we learned. We definitely hit the high points but also saw a few things we wouldn't have been aware of from travel guides such as the pink drainage pipes or the "monument" regarding the book burning near Humboldt university. We highly recommend this tour as a great deal and a good way to get your bearings in Berlin. We plan on doing more tours on our next trip to Berlin!

Last week, after 10 years visiting Berlin annually on business, I took one of your Third Reich walking tours hosted by Nigel Dunkley. I must say it was probably the best guided tour I have ever been on anywhere in the world. It was an honour to be hosted by somebody with such intimate knowledge of the subject and somebody so personable. In my previous trips to Berlin, I had spent considerable time investigating on my own the various key Third Reich sites. Nigel put a whole new perspective on it and made the whole tour quite memorable. The 4 hour tour turned into a 6 hour interactive history lesson from an unqualified expert on the subject. It was quite something to be hosted by somebody who has met Rudolf Hess in person as well as numerous other eye witnesses to the most tumultuous period of the 20th century. It was probably the best 12 euro I have ever spent and would recommend it to anybody who goes to Berlin. My only regret was that I had to rush off to an appointment at the end and could not join Nigel in a cold drink.

Frederik II was Great, but for me without Jamie, he wasn't (free after Napoleon Bonaparte). Thanks a lot for this very interesting walk!

Brilliant. Was so interesting and educational. Mike's knowledge seemed limitless. The tour provided a real understanding of the history and kept everyone entertained. I would definately recommend this tour- especially if you havent had time to research your trip Mike has all the answers.

If you do just one thing in Berlin, contact Insider Tours and ask when Nigel Dunkley is next leading a tour and then prepare yourself for 4-6 hours of entertainment, education, enlightenment and sheer enjoyment. We did the Third Reich tour with Nigel on May 1 2011 and it was the highlight of our trip. In fact, I think it was one of the best holiday experiences I have ever had. His knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the history of the city is inspiring. He brings the period 1933 to 1945 to life in technicolour. He speaks German (and Russian incidentally...as well as doing a wicked Ian Paisley impression!) and frequently breaks into it to act out part of a speech made by Hitler, or other relevant protagonists. For 6 wonderful hours, Nigel led us through parts of Berlin loaded with historical significance and painted a detailed picture interwoven with intriguing historical anecdotes. A storyteller, historian, raconteur, walking encyclopedia...Nigel couldn't be better suited to this vocation. An unforgettable experience.
