דרזדן, בירת סקסוניה, ”פירנצה שעל האלבה", ”פנינת הבארוק" – אלו הם רק חלק מכינוייה של עיר קסומה זו. אחד המרכזים ההיסטוריים היפים בעולם: עירו של אריך קסטנר (וגם של יוסף בורג) ששוקמה לאחר הפצצות בעלות הברית אשר החריבו חלקים נרחבים ממנה (כפי שמתואר בספרו של קורט וונגוט "בית מטבחיים חמש"). מרכז העיר נחשב על ידי אונסק"ו ל"אתר מורשת תרבות עולמי"ומכונה גם"פירנצה אשר על האלבה" .
הביקור בדרזדן מתמקד בפנינות הבארוקיות:ארמון הצווינגר, העיר העתיקה, בניין אופרת ה"סמפר" וכדומה. עם זאת, הוא אינו מתעלם מהתפתחויות עכשוויות ונותן גם זמן לביקור ב"גלריית התמונות", במוזיאון הפורצלן או ב"כספת הירוקה" (מוזיאון האוצרות של המלך). ינתן זמן חופשי לקניות ומוזיאונים בעיר.
